John J. Murphy
John J. Murphy, founder of Pacific Coast Investment Advisors, LLC offers 35 years investment and management experience.  Pacific Coast Investment Advisors, LLC (PCIA) was founded in 2006 to offer disciplined portfolio management services at very reasonable prices.

 

After his military career and college Mr. Murphy was employed as a municipal bond salesman for a firm that was once the municipal bond department for Bank of America in the 1930’s.  Then joining Dean Witter & Co. he balanced bonds with equities to offer a wider set of investment choices.  With nine years experience he was selected by a regional investment firm to manage a brokerage office and became a municipal principal to supervise a municipal bond trading desk.  Deciding to return to his primary interest, investing in equities, he joined Merrill Lynch where he remained for the next ten years before returning to Dean Witter & Co. which became Morgan Stanley.  For the next thirteen years Mr. Murphy continued to successfully serve clients through asset allocation, equity and fixed income portfolios in all types of investment environments.  During the last two years at Morgan Stanley, Mr. Murphy was appointed one of 200 custom portfolio managers, out of 40,000 Morgan Stanley employees.  During that time he successfully designed and built what later became the Pacific Portfolio.  The Pacific Portfolio is a very high quality, conservative, equity growth portfolio.  This 35 years of experience through all different types of market conditions, is a tremendous asset to help guide your investment decisions.

Cheyne B. Sorensen
Cheyne B. Sorensen first joined Pacific Coast Investment Advisors LLC as an intern in 2006, and has since 2008 been a full time employee.

 

Mr. Sorensen is a native Oregonian, University of Oregon alumni, graduating with a bachelor degree in economics, and loyal Sigma Chi.  After graduation Mr. Sorensen looked to use his economics degree by pursuing a career in the financial industry as a portfolio manager.  He plans to receive a series 7, 65, and CFA designations.  Mr. Sorensen actively participates in Rotary of Kruse Way, and the Multnomah Athletic Club Cycling Committee, where he contributes his time to help organize club events.
